Why Raven Herron & Company?
After commuting to Houston for several years with a minimum one hour drive each way, I was ready to live in a smaller community with a more laid-back lifestyle. I was fortunate to find Raven A. Herron & Company which cares about their clients and provides quality services. I love that the firm strives to utilize new technology and is committed to a paperless environment. I truly enjoy the people I work with.
After managing medical practices for over twenty years, I was happy to return to public accounting where I started my career. My experience in private industry gives me insight into the challenges of managing a successful business. I enjoy solving problems and finding solutions for clients. My years of experience in working with a variety of businesses and tax returns provide me with the knowledge to explain tax issues in layman terms and to work well with a variety of clients. One of the reasons I enjoy doing taxes is that I like to help people navigate what is often a frustrating and confusing process. I like to “think outside the box” and offer ideas and solutions rather than just completing forms. Of course, this is easier to do when clients provide us with their complete tax information early instead of just before the due date!
What makes me Capable?
I graduated from Texas A & M -Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Texas. Although this explains my education and licensure, it doesn’t reflect my many years working in health care and in public accounting. Early in my career, I worked for Ernst & Young and other accounting firms preparing tax returns. I then returned to public accounting after working over twenty years managing medical practices. I have extensive experience working with small and midsize businesses, retirement plan issues, entity selection, and other tax considerations. Texas CPAs are required to have forty hours of continuing education annually and I have spent a considerable amount of time learning the new tax laws which are continually changing.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family. I love gardening, reading, and crafting.
